Justice will be provided to all earthquake-affected people

NRA Appellate Committee holds interaction in Pokhara

Kathmandu, March 1: The Appellate Committee of the National Reconstruction Committee (NRA) held a one-day provincial interaction in Pokhara today about the on-going post-earthquake reconstruction and existing grievances.

At the interaction, Chief Executive Officer of the NRA Sushil Gyewali said the NRA has done a remarkable work in the post-disaster recovery which has been appreciated by national and international communities. Saying that the NRA has always given preference to the actual beneficiaries while carrying out the reconstruction works, Gyewali said the NRA would move forward by solving any existing problem and would include all the beneficiaries in the reconstruction process.

Chairperson of the Appellate Committee Justice Mohammad Junaid Azad informed that the Committee would look into all the registered grievances with utmost priority and assured that all the earthquake-affected people will be provided justice. He added that all the concerned stakeholders have the equal responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind.

Member of the Appellate Committee Bhishma Raj Kadariya and under secretary at the NRA Manohar Ghimire presented working papers at the interaction.

Chief of District Coordination Committee of Kaski Bain Bahadur Chhetri praised the post-earthquake reconstruction works but said that there are still people left out and requested to address their grievances to include them in the reconstruction process.

Representatives of local governments and other participants also raised the issue of those left behind in the reconstruction and stressed on the need to provide justice to those who have been affected during the 2015 earthquake.

Office secretary of the Appellate Committee Gopikrishna Regmi welcomed the participants while chief of District Level Project Implementation Unit (Grant Management and Local Infrastructure) Nabaraj Sharma emceed the program.

Those attending the interaction included chairperson of the District Coordination Committee of Kaski, mayors and deputy mayors of municipalities of the Gandaki Province, Chairs and Deputy Chairs of rural municipalities, Chief Administrative Officers, officials of the NRA, representatives of district government offices in Kaski, chiefs of DLPIUs in Kaski, earthquake-affected people, media persons and others.

The interaction program was held with financial and technical support from the Nepal-EU Action for Recovery and Reconstruction (NEARR) Facility.
