Kathmandu, October 22: The Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project (EHRP) of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) began a 49-day vocational training for women masons. The training is being organized through Inclusive Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
Project Director of EHRP Project Management Unit (PMU) Bharat Prasad Aryal inaugurated the training program here today.
The overall objective of the training is to strengthen the skill of women masons to promote resilient housing construction at the community level thereby connecting with their livelihood skill for long term sustainability.
Through this training, EHRP-PMU is driven by a motive of equipping women masons with skill based vocational training on housing construction matters so that they are confident enough to become self-reliant by taking independent tasks in various construction works such as wall raising, fencing, flooring, tiling, plastering, roofing, painting etc.
The training is being held in office premises of Inclusive Consultants where the first phase is focused on theory classes followed by practical lessons in second phase.
Altogether 149 women masons from earthquake-affected districts are participating in this residential training.
