Kanya Mandir, Nepal’s first all-girls school in the heart of Kathmandu, is in the final stage of reconstruction.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) in reconstructing this historic school building which was badly damaged in the April 2015 earthquake.
The reconstruction of Kanya Mandir serves as an example to the reconstruction challenges the USAID and the people of Nepal initially encountered after the 2015 earthquake, said the USAID through its twitter account under the hashtag #ResilientReconstruction on April 27. “It also shows how the USAID and the government of Nepal rose to overcome those challenges.”
The US government, through the USAID, has partnered with the NRA, and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to rebuild dozens of schools in various parts of Nepal.
