Pokhara, July 15: Jas Bahadur Thapa, a 101-year-old beneficiary of Mugribesi in Ward no. 9 of Madi Rural Municipality, has received a landowner’s certificate for the land he bought from Rs. 200,000 grant provided by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).
Nabaraj Sharma, head of the NRA’s District Level Project Implementation Unit (Grant Management and Local Infrastructure), handed over the certificate to Thapa yesterday.
After receiving the certificate, Thapa was jubilant. “We did not have land since our forefather, as we had been living in Ailani land” he said. “I can’t express myself how happy I am for owning a land at this age.”
Thapa bought 190 square-meter land from Narayani Adhikari with the government grant of Rs. 200,000 and with assistance from Samudayik Atmanirbhar Sewa Kendra and Digo Samadhan Pariyojana.
The NRA has been providing Rs. 200,000 to those landless beneficiaries who lost their houses and had been living in different categories of government land and degraded forest areas. These beneficiaries are also entitled to receive Rs. 300,000 grant to build a house.
